The material decides

Nature designs most of it before we do

Every slab of solid wood carries the record of decades of growth – the rings, the organic cracks, the shape of the live edge where the trunk met its bark. We choose slabs for that character rather than in spite of it, then build the piece around what the wood already is.

Because no two slabs are alike, no two finished pieces can be. When we say a table is recreated from its design and never identical, that is a description of the material, not a marketing line.

The resin does not hide the wood. It behaves like water: flowing through it, holding its depth, preserving the raw character permanently.

The craft

Most of the month is waiting

You can accelerate almost every stage of furniture making. You cannot accelerate chemistry. Wood must reach stable moisture content before it meets resin, and resin must bind chemically into the grain before a surface can be worked.

Skip either and the result shows it – usually months later, under evening light, at exactly the angle you sit at most often.

A bespoke table is the quiet center of the room. It does not adapt to the atmosphere – it creates it.

The craft

From raw timber to finished surface

01

Selection and drying

Slabs are chosen for grain, live-edge shape and the position of natural cracks, then dried until moisture content is stable. Wood poured too early keeps shrinking inside rigid resin.

Week 1

02

The pour

Resin is poured in temperature-controlled layers. Too thick and it clouds from its own heat; too thin and you add days for nothing. Stones and preserved moss are placed by hand between layers – a point of no return.

Week 2

03

Curing

The piece rests while the resin binds chemically into the grain, forming one monolithic body. Working the surface now would deform it invisibly, for years.

Week 3

04

Finishing

Levelled, sanded through progressively finer grits, polished until the surface returns light instead of absorbing it. The powder-coated steel base is then fitted to its finished weight.

Materials

What goes into a piece

01

Premium solid wood

Sustainably harvested, chosen slab by slab for striking natural character rather than uniformity.

02

Crystal-clear epoxy

High-quality UV-stabilised resin, poured in layers so it cures transparent rather than clouding.

03

Stone and preserved moss

Natural white river stone and preserved moss, positioned by hand and suspended permanently.

04

Powder-coated steel

Visually light bases, fitted to the finished weight and balance of each individual piece.
